  • How does IPL work?
    InMode's Lumecca IPL uses patient unique tailored broad spectrum light to target problem areas in the skin such as the pigment in age spots and the blood cells in broken capillaries by absorbing heat from this transmitted light without breaching the skin layer. The body then either absorbs the treated pigmented fragments or they are sloughed off in the normal skin cycle.

  • How is the treatment done?
    A layer of cooling gel is applied over the affected area, and the patient dons protective goggles. A small handpiece is moved across the skin and a sensation with each pulse of the laser may feel like the snapping of a rubber band over the skin, and is generally well tolerated without the use of any analgesia. However, a topical anesthetic can be applied prior to treatment.

  • How long is a treatment and how many will I need?
    A typical treatment over the entire face takes about 20 minutes. After the treatment, the gel is wiped off and routine activities can resume.
    There may be mild redness which is generally short-lived, and areas of pigmentation can become darker before sloughing off in a week's time.
    Treatments are generally spaced three weeks apart, with results starting to show after the first or second treatment.
